Jackson went on his first airplane ride this weekend. My best friend was getting married on Saturday, April 16th in Delaware. We flew out on the 14th.
Day 1 Plane Ride
Our flight was at 7am. So we got up early to get through security and find out gate. Jackson did so well on the plane. He slept the majority of the way. We flew into D.C Regan Airport then rented a car and drove to Dover, DE. That night we had dinner with the bride to be and her fiance.
Day 2 Hershey
Friday we had the whole day to do something fun while we were out there. Since Hershey, PA was only 2 – 3 hours away, we decided to go there. It was so much fun. The whole town smells of chocolate. We took a bunch of pictures and bought a couple pieces of candy. But it was a really cool town and a really neat tour.
Day 3 The Wedding
We awoke to cloudy, windy weather. Not an ideal day. We drove to Lewes, DE where the wedding was being held. It was a short, sweet deal. Due to the weather we had to leave just as they said “I do”. The Bay Bridge that crosses from DE to D.C closes if the weather is bad. So we were worried that we would not make it to DC that night where we had a hotel reservation. Luckily, it was open and we were able to cross, even though it was not the most comfortable time to, we still made it to DC with no problems.
Day 4 Museum And A Really Big House
On Sunday we decided that it would be our day to walk around DC. Our hotel was only 2 blocks from everything we wanted to see. So no driving all day Sunday, it was great. We saw The White House, Washington Monument, Air and Space Museum, The American History Museum, The Nature Museum, and The Native American Museum. We saw and walked a lot. We were dead by the end of the day. But it was so worth it. We did see a lot of the other buildings and monuments but we did not go tour/ get close to them. Other than that we had a good day and was excited to get back to the hotel.
Day 5 Home Bound
Monday was our last day. Our flight was at 2 so we had a little time to sleep in and pack. Our fight was the not the best but we made due. Once again Jackson slept and Jon and I watched movies. It was a very tiny plane completely full. Both of our flights were actually booked solid. But we did have a good time and now it so great to be back at home. The hotel beds were not bad, but there is always something about sleeping in your own.
All in all, the trip was great. We had a wonderful time and look forward to going back to DC when Jackson is older.
